Read the passage: Bláth Botanicals, Kilkenny
Aoibhinn Ní Dhuibhir worked for eight years as a chemist in a large pharmaceutical company. While there she suggested a new, cheaper testing process that the company adopted, and she was rewarded with a promotion. Aoibhinn noticed that friends with sensitive skin struggled to find natural skincare products made in Ireland. In 2024 she left her job and invested €40,000 of her savings to set up Bláth Botanicals in a converted farm building near Kilkenny. She attended a Start Your Own Business course run by her Local Enterprise Office and received mentoring. Her first product range failed because the packaging leaked. Rather than give up, she redesigned the packaging and relaunched six months later. Bláth Botanicals now sells online and in 30 pharmacies, and employs four people.
