Privacy notice

Draft for legal review — last updated 26 October 2026.

StudyRoom (operated by Mahnoor Ltd, Ireland) provides an online learning service for secondary school students. Many of our users are under 18, so we collect as little as possible.

What we collect

  • Account: name, email address, password (stored hashed), role (student, parent, teacher), school year and chosen subjects.
  • Learning activity: answers, hints used, confidence ratings, scores and topic progress.
  • Technical: login times, IP address in security logs, cookies needed to keep you signed in.

Why

To provide the service you signed up for (contract), to keep accounts secure (legitimate interest), and — where a parent or teacher is linked — to share summaries the student has agreed to. We do not sell data, show adverts, or use children's data for profiling or marketing.

Who can see student data

The student. A parent only after the student shares a one-time link code, and only as summaries. A teacher only for classes the student joined. Platform administrators for support and safety.

Retention and your rights

Accounts inactive for 24 months are deleted. You can ask to access, correct, export or delete your data at any time: info@studyroom.ie. You can complain to the Data Protection Commission (dataprotection.ie). In Ireland the digital age of consent is 16 where consent is the legal basis for processing.

Processors

Hosting (Hostinger, EU data centres), email delivery and, when enabled, payments (Stripe). Each is bound by a data processing agreement.
