Read the passage: Estuary (an original poem)
Here the river forgets its name. It loosens its grip on the banks, spreads itself thin across the mudflats and lets the tide decide. Twice a day the sea comes in like a landlord checking the rooms, and twice a day it leaves with nothing said. The herons stand in their grey coats, patient as old men at a bus stop who have stopped believing in buses but like the company. I came here to be certain of something. Instead I watch the water being two things at once, and neither, and somehow whole.
